With Lori Trojan, Steward & Owner, Wild Ivy Herb Farm

Presenter Bio:

Lori Trojan is the Steward and Owner of Wild Ivy Herb Farm, a boutique specialty farm in Lawrence, KS. Wild Ivy Herb Farm crafts over 65 herbal products from the harvest of over 80 sustainably-grown varieties of medicinal herbs and elderberries.  Lori earned a BA in Business with a minor in Nutrition and has been a serial entrepreneur for over 40 years. She is also a Master Herbalist, Master Gardener, Educator, Farmer and Author. Lori has started, grown and sold employment agencies, distribution companies, manufacturing facilities, fitness centers, specialty retail stores, sales systems, property management companies and more. Currently, Lori conducts gardening and farming workshops as well as business start-up courses for audiences from 30 to 3000. Lori is the author of the book, “Guide to Growing Herbs” and coursework entitled, “Starting a Business on a Shoestring Budget”.

Feb 15: Business Beginnings: From Dream to Reality. Learn about starting and registering your company on a shoestring budget. This course includes answers to the following questions and much more, “Which company designation should I choose and how can I afford the cost of registering?”, “How do I choose a unique name?”, “Do I really need a business plan and a mission and vision statement?”, “I’m in this alone. Where can I go for free advice and help?”, “Do I need staff and do I need an EIN if I don’t have staff?”, “Do I need to lease/buy a space or am I allowed to do this at home?”, “How will I know if this will be successful and how do I keep from going broke before I know?”, ”What is an exit strategy and why do I need one?” and much more.

March 1: Simple Bookkeeping Plus Maintaining Records on a Shoestring Budget. Learn to keep simple books on a shoestring budget. Tips for maintaining records so that you don’t feel overwhelmed at tax time. This course will include financing questions and where to find investment dollars.

March 15: Telling the World You Exist: Advertising Your New Business. So, now you have a business, how do you tell everyone you exist? Learn about press releases, soft and hard openings, Networking for all business and personality types, websites and marketing to reach the most people on a shoe string budget.

Please note that this workshop series will not be held at Wild Ivy Herb Farm. All 3 courses will be held at The Merc Coop in the Community Cafe, 901 S Iowa St, Lawrence, KS on Sundays from 2-3:30pm.
